Semester 2 - week 12 - Natural Exteriors: exploring colour
The last one is a natural landscape made near a bridge, in Hebden Bridge. There was a powerful contrast between the green tree and the gray atmosphere surrounding it.
Made with pastels and some help of the grayscale markers, I captured the beautiful hue of tree contrasting the dark colours of the human made ambient.
The focal point is the tree, first of all because of the contrast, second because of the forms that are only curves despite of the majority of the buildings that are straight, and third because all the implied line like the rocks or the bridge are guiding the eye towards that area. Also it is situated in the left point of the rule of thirds.
The horizon is the horizontal line just above the rocks, and one thing that is wrong is that that horizontal line is not straight enough and it gives the feeling that the drawing is falling in the right.
